Intimacy Professional

About Jai

they/them

Jai Long is an Intimacy Professional based in the midwest and available for work nationwide. They are a queer, nonbinary artist dedicated to cultivating safer, braver spaces for performers and creative teams. With a deep commitment to advocacy for all marginalized communities, Jai approaches their work through a lens of equity, care, and authenticity. After compleating the Intimacy Professional Accelerator Program for both theater and film, and the Certification Intensive course through the SAG-AFTRA accredited training program from Intimacy Directors & Coordinators, they are currently certification pending for Intimacy Coordination. Jai also brings extensive training in mental health first aid, trauma-informed practices, conflict mediation, movement, and choreography to their work—ensuring that every space they enter is grounded in care, collaboration, and integrity. Their lifelong passion for the arts fuels a deep respect for storytelling that honors vulnerability, boundaries, and truth. Jai specializes in choreographing and facilitating intimate scenes that are not only safe and consensual but also emotionally honest and inclusive—both on stage and on screen. When not on set as an intimacy professional, they work for a non-profit that secures housing for homeless veterans. In their off time they can be found cuddling with their dog and two cats, playing video games, writing novels, crocheting, or reading.

Tuttle Theatre Talks: Getting Intimate With Intimacy Professionals

An In-Depth Chat with Toledo’s New Intimacy Professional, Jai Long

"It begins with trust between me and the actors. I make sure they know that not only am I incredibly well-trained in this, I am also absolutely judgment-free, and there to ensure their safety and comfort."

What's it like working with Jai?

Spring_Awakening_-_3.20.25-091.jpg

Spring Awakening was my first show doing sex scenes and Jai made me and my scene partner feel safe, listened to and respected us, and worked collaboratively with us to make choreography that told the story. It helped that we had private rehearsals for learning the choreo at first so that those inital awkward moments weren't being seen by the whole cast, it was in a safe place with Jai who we trusted, and who was very open to explaining and talking through everything. It was also the first time I'd had a modesty garment and nudity on stage, and Jai made the process very easy and comfortable. I was really glad that there was such a knowledgeable and experienced Intimacy Director working on this show because it helped me focus on putting my energy into the role.
